

Magistrate Massie's Biography
Magistrate Steve Massie is a native of Southern West Virginia. He and his wife Tammy of twenty years and two daughters Kayla and Kimberlin reside in Shady Spring and are members of Bible Baptist Church.
He is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Naval Submarine Force Where he served for 12 years. Magistrate Massie served aboard two nuclear submarines the USS Tecumseh SSBN 628 and the USS Rhode Island SSBN 740 where he completed 13 strategic deterrent nuclear patrols. Magistrate Massie served in a law enforcement division as he was stationed aboard the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command. Magistrate Massie's awards include the Submarine Qualification Insignia, Patrol Pin x13, Humanitarian Service Medal, Battle Efficiency “E” x2, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal x4, Navy Achievement Medal and the Sea Service Ribbon.
In business Magistrate Massie served as the Operations Officer for a service disabled veteran owned project management firm located in Beckley. His primary duty was to retain federal dollars allocated for West Virginia in West Virginia after the project’s completion.
Since being elected in 2004 Magistrate Massie has served as Chief Magistrate 2010-2011, Magistrate Association Legislative Committee, West Virginia Court Security Committee, West Virginia Courts Funds Recovery Board and the Emergency Management Committee. In 2007 Magistrate Massie was the “Incite Hope Award” recipient.
Magistrate Massie is a member of The Gideons International, VFW Post 4469, Beckley Lodge 95 AF & AM , Moose Lodge 1606 and Friends of Coal.
